I've been working with the New York Observer now for a few years or so. I've lost track of how many covers that I have done for them now but I can honestly say that each one that I have done has been a blast artistically. It's always a challenge because my deadlines are usually only a couple days so I have to gather reference fast, sketch fast and get painting. It pushes me to work hard at developing my work in a way where I can still deliver quality work and what the client wants in only a short amount of time. Personally I would prefer much more time but that is the nature of the beast! I enjoy working with Lauren Draper quite a bit. She doesn't put me in a box, and understands what I can do. There is a freedom and trust between us which goes a long way.
