  • Q: How do you shoot portraits of a wide variety of 'real' motorcyclists, complete with their own authentic vintage clothing, accessories and a passion for the right brand of bike?

A: Plan an open casting with high-end photographic production values and then simply photograph whoever turns up, in exactly what they turn up in - with no styling, hair or make-up.

A London based Interactive Agency needed portraits of bikers as part of their pitch for a new social media campaign for Triumph Motorcycles. The creative direction required for ‘real’ bikers, so we set up a portrait studio within a renowned Manhattan Triumph dealer and called an open casting through Craigslist and Facebook.

An eclectic range of people answered the call. On a sunny Saturday morning, we set up a full portrait studio within the dealership in SoHo and photographed the bikers exactly as they arrived: no make-up, no styling, just as they were - as real as you can get.
