One view I have portrayed is a more specific and intimate look at natural forms such as pinecones, maple seeds and thistles. These I have painted on a small scale with loose gestural strokes and an ambiguous background, so not to detract from the object. The other view is more general, focusing on a landscapes scenes at a larger scale. The larger landscapes still have an ambiguous background, much like the smaller paintings. This is intentional, to focus the attention on colors observed in the tree trunks by the natural lighting conditions.
