Natural History Museum
Self initiated wayfinding and mapping project
This aim of this brief was to design a new wayfinding system for the interior of the Natural History Museum on the pretence that they were going to rearrange the locations of different zones and areas.
Information leaflets and map. The printed materials have a consistent tab theme, so that whatever information is required can be accessed immediately.
Pictograms for the maps and signs. The shape of the pictogram is taken from the shape of the 'N' in the Natural History Museum logo.
Map design for the zones and areas. Each map uses colour to highlight the specific zone.
Sign for the birds area, making use of the pictogram and applying it to a corner sign. Ideally the birds would be cut outs so that the wall behind was revealed.
Example of wayfinding for the creepy crawlies area within the orange zone. The ants should be vinyl stickers applied to the walls directing visitors towards the area.
