National Park Photo Collages (2011)

Scenic Moments Everywhere
Photographing National Park visits in parts and piecing the puzzles together
Since 2005, whenever I go somewhere scenic, I attempt to capture the majestic beauty with a little point-and-click camera in small doses. Later, I take those small doses and put them together like a puzzle, as if by hand, using Adobe Photoshop. This process began with a trip to Glacier National Park, where I was limited by my camera's ability to take photographs that would result in good-quality prints at only 5x7 inches. At one particular viewpoint, I couldn't get the whole scene in one shot, which prompted the idea to take multiple shots and re-create the image on the computer later. I liked the results so much I decided to continue creating these images other places I visited.

In the summer of 2011, I traveled to:

     Black Hills, South Dakota
     Devils Tower National Monument, Wyoming
     Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
     Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming
•     Zion National Park, Utah
•     Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah

These are some of the results of my "puzzle photos" from that trip.
