“The Manual for Creative Action”
“The Manual for Creative Action” is the deliberately unconventional title of the new Nottingham Trent University Art and Design Prospectus - a book that encourages creative growth, personal development and self expression. The book is differentiated throughout by a series of statements and slogans such as ‘Sharpen Your Pencil’, ‘Love Your Imagination’ and ‘Wear Your Ideas’.
This is the third edition of the prospectus I've designed at Un.titled. We were asked by NTU to “challenge convention and the status quo”, and “incorporate an element of creative defiance and reinvention”.
The book was a creative call to action and a challenge to prospective students, asking them to ‘Make Ideas Happen’. Inside were a number of creative briefs such as customising a t-shirt to reflect something about the student, their creativity and personality - and wear the finished product to their interview.
The cover and divider pages used different embossings on Colourplan paper by GFSmith, with each embossing chosen to suite the specific course section (i.e. the fashion section divider page used embossing Fine Linen). The other pages were printed on Tauro Offset from Robert Horne. Designed at Un.titled.
