EXHIBITION NOTHING / PERSONAL

This exhibition examines the opposition of the personal and the non-personal in relation to verbal and non-verbal presentation skills. Prestructured presentation skills limit the self and claim it to bend boundaries and find loopholes. The non-personal can become a scope which allows the subject taking distances to the outside world and itself and developing new perspectives. In words and images presented subjects recede behind shown images, spoken words or writing and new opportunities for action oscillate between revelation, deception, acquisition and reinvention.
Nothing / Personal approaches stages “in between” by using several accesses and medias: images, words, sounds, installations and projections become a tableau.

PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION NOTHING PERSONAL

Portrayal is an intimate moment between two people. Therefor it is impossible to make non-personal images of humans. Even if the portrayed person met the photographer for the first time in the previous moment this still intimacy exists.
Nothing Personal shows people in public as they present themselves. Only the expression of the portrayed is staged to avoid personal emotions of the person and to keep the portrait as impersonal as possible.

PHOTOGRAPHY INSTALLATION LIFE / STREAMS
Gregor Schlatte

Gregor Schlatte photographs live-streams as they are on screen. We see a reality which lives some where shown twice:
The first transmission is formed by an image with all its disturbances, blurs and deformations. These errors also show in the second transmission when the screen is photographed.
The reality, which the photographer wants to capture is always somewhere else. What he shows is less his perspective on location or on the subject but more the quality of the connection to the location and the live-stream of his counterpart. Gregor Schlatte shows self confident stagings by protagonists who stage themselves. Sometimes they react to the direct contact to the photographer and his camera. Other images show people, who don't know who is watching them or if they are being watched at all.
Gregor Schlatte shows unique moments which he found in those life-streams and offers excerps of other worlds, persons, non-persons, situations and non-situations to the beholder.

AUDIO INSTALLATION HELEN READS FACEBOOK
Gregor Schlatte & Clara Wildberger

The internet is not just the victory of pornography and cat videos but also a change of the ranking of comunication methods. Seeing and reading replace hearing as dominant channel.
This project subtracts visual elements of the internet. Helen a linguistic robot reads five facebook profiles. The purpose is not a retranslation, there is no going back to the real form of communication, from face to face, but discussion of the textual structure of the internet. Helen disentitles images and graphics as a support for text. We listen to Marina Abramovic's posts, Benjamin Lasnier loving his fans, Warren Buffet changing the world, Soko drowning in melancholia and Franz Kafka reading his work.

Concepts of the future can be designed but barely verified. Imaginative individual stories are to make the distance more comprehensible and add personality to the construct.
This work deals with interlocked timeframes, with future which has become present and holographic projections of the coming years. The footage for this audio-installation vary from self made and recorded sounds to youtube videos. In found footage style something existing became something new.
Mr. B is the main character of an in 1972 produced documentary which deals with the year 2000. The book “The future of Austria. This is the life in the year 2019” invited celebrities of several disciplines to make forecasts for the year 2019 with the assumption that in this year the generation born in 1984 will be at the half of their life. The “now” can be seen as a threshold between designed terms for reality. Between the years of 2000 and 2019 those evaluations and possible realizations can be estimated.
Elisabeth Stecker dissects current outlooks in form of invented radio calls with a team which is based on Mars. The statements of three appearing members are based on application videos. It is the goal for 2023 to operate the first colonization on Mars and also stage it as reality format. Right now candidates are being sought who accept an one-way-ticket to travel to Mars.

PERFORMANCE YOU PUT THE K IN CUTE

I like birds [redefining romance, ragdoll ragedy + resurrection]
is a [text]performance somewhere between text and disco.
initial point are lines taken from youtube comments. starting with this an attemt to get closer to attributions of identity which are shown unfiltered and in a forced distance through this media. Gender roles, concepts for the present and temporary myths are discussed and found in trashtalk and inevitably become a topic of an aesthetic of self-staging iterating itself somewhere between play replay comment. Or grimes, stop being so perfect or I’m gonna die!
