  • My thesis explores the design of the “11th Street Recreation Bridge” across the Anacostia River in Southeast Washington, DC.  The park engages the community by providing various walking paths that contrast natural elements with man-made technology.  On one side of the park, a walking path filled with vegetation—bioswales, vegetable gardens, fruit orchards and wildflowers; on the other, a cornucopia of high-tech interactive digital media outlets and stations that demonstrate the endless possibilities for wind, solar and human-powered energy sources.  The park provides both relaxing and invigorating spaces for the community to gather, play, experience, and learn.
