- Myddleton Grange Climate Change Walk
The Diocese of Leeds and CAFOD
- A Climate Change Walk or ‘Stations of the Environment’ for the Diocese of Leeds and CAFOD Climate Change Walk or ‘Stations of the Environment’ for the Diocese of Leeds and CAFOD on the land surrounding the Myddleton Grange retreat centre in Ilkley, West Yorkshire.
Each of the eleven ‘stations’ or stopping points are 2.5 ft square boards that take visitors not only on a journey through the extensive grounds of Myddelton Grange but also on a much deeper journey. Each station makes connections with the global reality of climate change and invites a spiritual reflection.
The photographs on the signs included some from professional photographers who generously agreed to let us use their images. The colours of each board were sampled from photographs of the surrounding location where the signs were placed, to ensure the signs blended into the environment. In addition to the artwork, St. Mary's Catholic High School, Menston also made the wooden sign holders.
The opening of the walk, 1 December 2011, was timed to coincide with the UN Climate Change Conference in Durban.
