Born in Mexico City, (1986) Writer and Director. With a Bachelor degree in Communications specialized in Cinema Maria Torres, graduated with honors at the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City. “Tungsten Nights”, her short film thesis was premiered at Guadalajara International Film Festival, also was in competition during the Sao Paulo Film Festival, New Filmmakers NY and Vancouver Latin-American Film Festival and many others. At the end of her studies she started to work in her first documentary “Dreams about Music” about a children philharmonic indigenous band. Later, Maria Torres won a scholarship for the program Writing for Film by the Vancouver Film School. While she lives in Vancouver, Maria Torres is part of the Vancouver Latin-American Film Festival and programmer for DOXA Film Festival in Vancouver. She is dedicated to help Mexican scripts in process of development, Maria Torres works as a Story Editor for feature scripts that need to enter funding. Her last job as Story Editor won “Best Script” in Guanajuato Film Festival. Right now is writing an animated feature called “VOB” her first coproduction Mexico-Canada. Writing is her passion which evolved to be part of her life.
