Mwahahaha!
- Mwahahaha!
Art Direction/Package Design/Component Design/Illustration/Concept Art/Game Design - In 2005 I submitted a proposal for a board/card game for the annual White Wolf Project Proposal meeting. It was to be an homage to some of my favorite creative and artistic influences over the years. The premise was essentially that you were a mad scientist and the game pitted you and your vast array of weapons and minions against the various governments of the world as well as your fellow mad scientists. And just for the heck of it, I titled my proposal "Mwahahaha!".Over the course of the next two years, the game would start to take shape. I did various sketches of the main characters while coming up with ideas for gameplay mechanics and the overall aesthetic of the game. Finally in the summer of 2007 Mwahahaha! went into the development phase and was helmed by my good friend Ken Cliffe. I then went off in search of an artist who would do the property justice....and that guy was Casey Edwards. Let me just say, Casey hit a home run with this project.

There are actually 10 different characters to choose from right out of the box and each one is paired with their very own secret lair and doomsday device interface. The original idea is that you would turn the "dial" on your "Doomsday Device" control and activate it. However, due to budget constraints that idea was nixed. Technically, you can do it if you run some fine grain sandpaper around the inner ring where the dial punches out.

Mwahahaha! Empire Cards. Art and Design by Mike Chaney. Since I was on a tight budget with this project, I opted to create logos for the various business "fronts" your mad scientist would have. The idea was to make them all very tongue in cheek...and they ran the gambit as far as types of humor go. My favorite is still Frank N. Stine University..
And some more Empire Cards.
