Musica e Molecole 1: Jazz
The first of a series of ten events combining music and science as a cultural mediation
The research institute was the first of its kind established in this part of southern switzerland. On the outside the general public had only a vague idea of the activities within the institute. On the inside a growing international community of researchers and students concentrated focused and highly specialized knowledge of the human immune system. Paradoxically the institute was better known outside of the region than within the region.
To help bridge the divide between the local and international communities a series of events was developed within the institute entry atrium to invite guests to experience both music and science. The series was held for ten events, culminating in a special project led by elementary school students (see Musica e Molecole 10:Future Scientists).
