People complain all the time about how they are getting old and their looks are going when they don't realize that growing old is a privilege many aren't lucky enough to have. A classmate of mine said this a day before I left to see my family in Canada and it stuck. This picture of my great grandmother and my mother speaks for all those who have a family member who has been lucky enough to grow as old as she has. She may be suffering from dementia, and she may not recall who we are as well as she used to, but she has held each of us in her arms when we were once babies. At one point she held our little hands, looked into our eyes, and smiled until she closed her eyes. She may not remember our names, be able to clearly see our faces, but she still holds our hands and smiles until her eyes close.
