  • This painting was done for the Looking for Juan Outdoor Banner ProjectOrganized by The Center for Art, New Ventures and Sustainable Development (www.CANVAS.ph), the Project explores what it means to be Filipino.

It is an annual public art exhibition installed in friendly, non-intimidating spaces like the magnificent tree-lined Academic Oval of UP, and the cool mountainside gardens of the BenCab Museum, it is also intended to bring Philippine art closer to the general public.

Now in its fifth year, Looking for Juan: Revolution pays tribute to the 150th birth year of Philippine hero Supremo Andres Bonifacio. The original works were exhibited at the Vargas Museum last June 2013.

At the end of the run, these tarpaulin banner reproductions will be upcycled into tote bags as one-of-a-kind functional pieces of art, the proceeds of which help to fund CANVAS’ overall mission to promote children's literacy, as well as Philippine art and culture.
