Moscov is a fictive brand of vodka crafted expressly for the urban cosmopolite. As a brand, it is iconic, nostalgic and sophisticated. Distilled from the finest grains and infused with the aromatic flavor of anise seeds, the beverage demands packaging that is bold, unconventional and sensual.
This project was created for a materials exploration class. The requirement was to create abstract or representational forms using contrasting materials. Walnut was lathed to create the vessel and bronze cast to form a stopper. Wood, soft and warm, is joined together with metal, cold and hard, in a way that emphasizes material and visual connection. By repurposing packaging as sculpture, the life of the vessel is extended beyond the consumption of the beverage.
