- Founded in 2008, the Mosaic Student Film Festival unites students through the creative and powerful medium of film. It occurs each fall at a venue in the Rockford, IL area and features a screening of original films, a red carpet pre-event, and the opportunity for young filmmakers to connect with their community. The event was started by myself and a couple other friends as we explored ways positively effect our community.
The festival is unique in that not only does it exhibit films created by young filmmakers,
but it also supports the Rockford Rescue Mission by donating ticket sales directly to the organization. The Mission, amongst other services, serves over 130,000 meals to hungry people in the Rockford community per year. Mosaic seeks to honor their efforts by harnessing the power that film and art have in a positive and creative way. To date,
the festival has raised over $1500 for the Mission.
