The month of june is in Holland the traditional month for promoting thrillers and crime stories.
The theme used by CPNB (the society for the promotion of books) this year is 'Galg & Rad' (which roughly translates in ‘the gallows and breaking wheel”, well-known torture devices from the Middle Ages.
The second meaning of these words in the Dutch language is something like 'to come to no good'. In short: this year it's all about crime stories through the ages.
We have visualised this in a pure and simple design: the pen combined with the gallows. The writer’s tool and the torturer’s tool... Depicting the ultimate beginning of a every well written crime story. And it's horrible ending too...
