Model Box Construction - 'The Dumb Waiter'

This project was based on the idea of designing and producing a Model Box for a specific theatre at 1:25 scale. The text in which I was producing for was Harold Pinter's 'The Dumb Waiter'.
Throughout the play, there is only one room, although others are mentioned and acknowledged.

The design involved incorporating and appreciating aspects such as sightlines and areas around the stage for the actors to move. By creating a model representation of the Theatre set, ideas are translated and put across effectively and is much easier to understand and comprehend.
The two beds in which the main characters spend most of the duration of the play on, including a miniature 'The Birmingham News' newspaper.
The Dumb Waiter, along with the 'Speaking Tube' is one of the main elements to the play and so was important for this to stand out and be the key feature.
Small elements which are mentioned within the play are important to include to give character to the room and to give a sense of reality.
One of the character's chairs in the corner of the room, along with dampening walls, and cracked tiles along the floor.
Numerous textures were included along with different depths of the building and its structure, which gives another dimension to the set and gives character.
