Much of the information on the Ministry of Sound home page was getting lost or missed by users.
The company decided that the homepage needed some updating in order to focus on the more important aspects of the brand i.e selling tickets for club nights as well as promoting artists and releases. Research showed that the customers were unsure where to look for tickets as the club night banners were too mixed up in the overall layout and changed position constantly.
The first thing I did was introduce a much cleaner homepage layout which allowed order and flow.
The introduction of two dedicated "club night banners" in the top right of the layout which did not change position made it a much clearer for customers to find the events. Over time the banner designs would change but the positioning of these banners would not. The addition of the wording "Club Friday" and "Club Saturday" also helped in making the events clearer so regular users of the site would know to look straight at this part of the homepage to find out about the upcoming club nights.
Tests showed that users made decisions much faster with the new layout which showed that they were able to take in the information faster than previously. Clicks to the events page also increased because of the new layout and the desired goal was achieved without a complete over-hall of the site which the team was keen to avoid.
