THE MINION
With all the hype from the premiere of "Despicable Me" sequel spawned these little creatures called Minions. I figured I could create one myself...
In a simplified sequence, this is how I did it in photoshop.
THE SKETCH
In animation this is what we call "Ruffs" which pertains to the rough sketch of the character
THE COLOR PALETTE
Choosing the color palette is easier when you have a reference... What I usualy do is to get the brightest to the darkest colors to use in my base,shadow and highlight...
a lot of brush strokes later...
THE TEXTURES
I've always been hard up with replicating the textures but i make sure to create one which is close to the real thing as possible... The trick is not to rely on brush strokes alone, some photoshop tinkering may be useful. ;)
I sometimes make these notes to remind myself of the errors I've seen during the process so as not to forget till I correct them...
