"Midnight Berliner" is the first photo manipulation I made using some of my own photographs. Although I didn't switch to using only my own until "Gaia Killing Ares," this piece was pivotal in how I approached creating new pieces. Many of the photos I used were taken from my trip to Berlin, Germany back in the summer of 2009 - many of the Berlin Wall and graffiti from that era.
This piece was inspired by both the trip overseas, as well as the song "Midnight In A Perfect World" by DJ Shadow, a huge name in underground hip-hop. The city of Berlin itself is a huge hub of underground hip-hop and my travels there brought me closer to the genre.
