Microsoft's marketing directors wanted to alert their packaging teams that overly-cluttered boxes were becoming a problem. This parody video of what a Microsoft-designed iPod package might look like was used to humorously remind marketers of the pitfalls of over-branding. The internal-only video was leaked to the web, garnering thousands of YouTube hits and a column on the front page of the Wall Street Journal's Marketplace section.
