Mickve Israel is the third oldest Jewish Congregation in the United States
Location Savannah, GA.
I was approached by the former head Rabbi of Congregation Mickve Israel to create a unique ritual object called a spice box, for the congregations 275 anniversary of forming in Savannah. This was a very special project to me especially because of my religious and spiritual background.
The Piece is entirely hand fabricated utilizing techniques such as forming, scoring, bending, soldering, fusing, depletion guilding, hinge and mechanism fabrication and various finishing techniques.
the base plate contains an inlaid design that is the emblem of the congregation and the hebrew name as well.
After the Innitial Celebration I was commissioned to create an edditional set to be given as gifts by the Synagogue. Every reproduction was hand fabricated, utilizing mass hand fabrication techniques and approach.
