I created this book as  a souvenir from a past trip. I went with family members and so I wanted to make something they could remember the trip by and it serves as a photo journal of the adventures we had.

The type on the front is a list of everything that we did and saw. It also includes some personal bits about our trip such as our flight number and statistics about the island itself. The layout of the type took much longer then I had anticipated. To get everything kerned correctly and so that there were not any severe rivers through the type was a headache, but very worth it. I wanted the type to be a nice and chunky typeface so that the photo behind it would really show through and the negative space around the type would be minimal. This was ideal to showcase this amazing beach and amazing island.

The book was printed by Blurb and I used their 7" square image wrap hard cover. I love how the book came out but it also took 2 reprints to get it close to correct. Either the cover would be mis-aligned, there would be roller marks on pages, or the color would vary extremely between copies. I still would use a print on demand service like this, but you have to also be prepared they won't ever be perfect.

This might end up as part one of two in a series, since we have since decided to go back here for another vacation and a new set of adventures.
