The myths and folk stories that tell of mermaids and water nymphs are some of my favorites. I am particularly fascinated by the various ways that mermaids are described, from seductive Sirens luring sailors to their deaths; to the soulful Selkie, the seal woman who sheds her skin to come ashore & is often caught by the trickery of an admiring fisherman. There are so many tales from almost every corner of the world all centered around water & the mythological creatures that make the sea, lakes & rivers their home.
