The type study project focused on learning to identify fonts, font characteristics and type classifications. Graphic design professionals are expected to recognize and almost infinate number of typefaces; it is essential, therefor, that students begin by learning the parts of the letter, know as the terms, characteristics, and to classify typefaces into these major historical categories of Old Style, Transitional, Modern, Slab Serif, and Sans Serif. The goal is to create two posters, one fact based, and one filled more heavily with context about the assigned font and its designer. The two posters will be 22 inches by 34 inches and should work together as a pair. The set of posters should teach the viewer enough about the type that they could become an expert.
