Our local Meals on Wheels office is built upon a large system of volunteers and very few hardworking employees. One thing that wasn't helping them was their lack of any sort of marketing campaign.
This poster is to advertise their latest fundraiser. They have teamed up with a local restaurant and anyone who brings in the flyer with them will get 20% of their bill donated to the non-profit. Other local organizations have done this in the past and their posters have been a little lack luster and their fundraising nights have suffered as a result of this.
We wanted Meals on Wheels' poster to draw the eye in, make people want to read it, and ultimately go out, get some pizza, and help out. High contrast colors of lime green were used for the bulk of the text and dark magenta highlights the most important of the text: Help Feed Your Community. Playful copywriting was used to make the poster feel like it would be a fun night out and not another boring fundraising event.
This is part of their new email marketing campaign. We set them up with a free Mail Chimp account, drew a custom illustration for the header of the email, and developed a simple system that they can update themselves. The direct result was instantly apparent. Not only can they track how many people open their email, download their materials, and click through to their website but they can see that people actually do read what they say. This is a much needed improvement over their old system; Sending out a mass, text based email with no idea if people are just deleting it when it arrives in their inbox.
