A series documenting the inside door of two fridges over 12 days, 12 months apart. The owners of the fridges had changed, but the contents remain surprisingly similar. The series offers and insight into the owners and a glimpse of their lives over 12 days, the low incomes and communal nature of the student owners influence the patterns and presence of different items. You can observe the sporadic use of sauces, frequent consumption of drinks, and the curious constant presence of mayonnaise. The more you look, the more you notice: the cream present throughout 12 days of Jamie and Jess’s fridge, and their mayonnaise which takes them 3 days to pick up, before it falls again at the end. Maddie and Doug’s vigilant milk keeping, Jenni and George’s top shelf pen, and Coke that moved but was barely touched. The work draws narrative from the everyday, highlighting modern consumerism and relationship between user and observer.
