A large variety of elements were developed in order to create one cohesive identity for emerging web based learning management system, Matygo. Having collaborated with the Matygo education developers since 2009, various elements evolved based on their immediate needs. These elements include, but are not limited to, the creation of “Maty,” the Matygo mascot, the business card and t-shirt design, multiple icon sets, and the largest undertaking: marketing page web plate series.
The major visual concern in building all of the elements for Matygo is the connection to state of the art, modern, web 2.3 look and feel. Thus it is accepted that the designs will have a quick turnover period, in maintaining this connection. For example, the initial icon set was created first, and therefore took on the glassy look of web 2.0. By the time the second icon set was created for the marketing page, noise texture and shadows were implemented. The secondary visual concern is simplicity and consistency, thus the colours and line weight of the logo are often a source of inspiration for other elements.
