During my marketing internship with Miron Construction Co. Inc, one of my assignments was to design a mascot or mascots for an event Miron was a sponsor for called Quarry Quest. Quarry Quest is a construction themed non-profit event. I was given creative freedom in terms of direction but the process involved me showing my designs to a committee. The committee consisted of over 20 sponsor and community members in a multiple meeting review process that helped me receive feedback about my designs. Also a panel of children were brought in to get their responses and reactions to the mascots. The final versions of the mascots were used in numerous printed materials in their first year. They were also used in a newspaper ad for the event. The applications included signage, event map, children's adventure book, and Facebook pages being created for each mascot to gage the children's responses. The children's adventure book was a physical take-away for the children and introduced the three mascots as a family. It included new activities on each page with the mascots teaching the children something. The final solutions included a turtle named Shellton, a fox named Rocksy, and a monkey named Boomer.
