Marquee Sign Logan Square

As a part of the exhibition: You Are Beautiful, The Next Chapter, Galerie F invited me to create an installation on their back storefront. There is no public entrance on this side of the street, and it is difficult to tell who the storefront belongs to. A perfect blank canvas to put a randomly positive installation. The piece has been up since October 2013.
The letters were made from .5" plywood, drilled, & painted black.
Using patio lights from a department store, I pulled out the wirecutters.
A friend visiting from Ireland helped on the letters. As we were working, he said he enjoyed the "homespun" approach. While that word was not in my vocabulary, I quickly found it to mean "crudely homeade." Johnny & Alex wiring like pros.
Billy hanging it just right, and taking care of all the details.
It's so fun, right at the moment of completion! We left the wires exposed, riffing on the homespun quality.
On Fullerton Ave, right off Milwaukee, in the heart of Logan Square. Check out the entire exhibition here
