For installation works my vision is that the change rate of the image would be slowed down considerably. Think about the video in installation, hung in a flat panel monitor: a painting in motion, but almost imperceptibly. This work was produced by combining a number of original still photographic images that I took at night with long exposure and open aperture settings to capture light and motion in abstraction.

first in new ambient video art series; Terrestrial Sonata 1

as with most ambient works the intent is for the work to be somewhat of a passive, background experience. But I'll leave that up to the viewer. The animation's slow moving frame rate and dissolves are designed to be viewed much like a "moving painting," or a painting in motion. Other works in the series will be a mix of computer generated imagery and real world video.

I had in mind abstract images of views from way above, or space, looking down at land. But these terrestrial views were abstract representations of sound waves that I could hear while watching the images and, the images changed in reaction to the sound, a kind of synaesthesia.
