Description
In 2009 I started working on my "Me-Monsters."  To come up with them I took different parts of my ego and invented a ridiculous, obnoxious, funny-looking monster for each part.  I started making the monsters in physical form as marionette sculptures.
  • In “Me-Monsters” I have tried to discover my true self underneath my egocentric persona.  This required taking off the layers of outworn ideas of my identity and delving deeper.  I dissected my ego and came up with a ridiculous, obnoxious, funny-looking monster for each part.

The first step to bring to life each monster was creating large marionette sculptures.

Brutus the monster is shown in various stages of completion as a marionette sculpture using wood, cardboard, polymer clay, fabric, and paint.  Three months of work is broken down into a little over five minutes:

Part 1: Finishing the Cardboard Work
Part 2: Teeth, Tongue, Eyes, and Nose
    Part 3: Color and Texture
    Part 4: Finishing Touches
