After reading the novel and getting a feel for the narrative, I decided on a very hands-on approach to the cover art. Without spoiling the story, allow me to say that it is a story about relationship and finding one's place. So, with the design, the word "making" and "room" are placed inside and outside boxes to visually represent how the main characters fit or don't fit into new and growing relationships. Another key element of the story is chocolate and wine. The color palette pulls from that motif. Further, the cover features a very simple pen and brush ink drawing for this 256-page paperback and adds a very organic approach to representing how people learn to grow together in spite of each other and/or in spite of life's situation.
