This is a 2 page spread that is on Canadian gun control and the long gun registry.
Overall Canada has a better gun control system in place than the United States and most countries. Obviously there is room for improvement, but it seems to be the cost, which stands in the way. Statistics say that in America 11.078 people were killed by a gun and in Canada only 170. Keep in mind that the USA has a quite larger population, so in that respect 3.6 people die out of 100 000, where in Canada only 1.62 die, still lower by the USA by over half. A recent controversial event in Canadian gun control was the destruction of the Long Gun Registry. Some think it aided in the reduction of death by firearm, but the statistics are not strong enough. It was cut because it went grossly over budget and was not efficient enough for its costs.
