In issue #4 of Zeromile, I was the Managing Creative Director. In that capacity, I was responsible for conceptualizing, writing and designing articles for the magazine. In 2010, I had the chance to travel to Austin, Texas for the South by Southwest music festival. There, I took the opportunity to procure a number of interviews, develop stories and take photographs for use in the magazine. My contributions included; four feature-length articles, marketing materials and layouts , as well as interviews with comedian Kyle Kinane and Stones Throw Records recording artist Mayer Hawthorne, both rising talents in their respective media. My articles were part of the culture half of the cat/dog formatted publication.
I chose to return to the magazine for issue #5 in a directed studies role as the magazine’s Operations Manager. In addition to my article interviewing design entrepreneur Johnny Cupcakes, my responsibilities included a more hands on role of the business management side of the magazine and focused on expansion of the magazine’s subscription and distribution. I was also involved in developing ambitious and aggressive new fund-raising in the marketing department.
