In the exhibition project «Made in Bergen», six furniture and interior designers joined forces to demonstrate what Bergen has to offer as a growing design centre. Seven mountains surround this mediaeval Hanseatic city, and its busy North Sea harbor and humid climate creates a dramatic and fertile environment which the designers see as an influential force in their design process. The six designers' work range from interior architecture, exhibition design, design of domestic and contracted furniture and objects. They all have a strong focus on materials, which we made into a visual parallel by creating hand printed slikscreen exhibition posters on mahogny veneer. Not the endangered kind of mahogny.

 

The visual concept represents Bergen quite literally by means of two stereotypic features of the city: Seven overlapping shapes can be viewed as raindrops, or as seven mountains – reduced and simplified to cone shapes.
