Upon its release, Machine of Death reached number one on the bestseller list. It beat out John Grisham’s novel “The Confession” and Glenn Beck’s “Broke”. As a collection of thirty-four science fiction short stories by authors known mostly for their contribtion to internet-based web-comics, the book is based around the premise that there is a machine that can tell you with 100% certainty how you will die.

Each story has an accompanying front illustration, and the contributions ranged from a story a single
sentence long, a poem and full-length short stories. The book is set with a meticulously manipulated
right–hand rag and generous margins based on classical manuscripts.
