A friend of mine asked me to take photos during their family reunion. On the margins of the get-together in a restaurant I asked the members of the family to join me in a side room where I asked them one by one to take a seat in an armchair by the window and have their portrait taken in available light on that late afternoon. So all these photographs were taken in one session. I only used a dark piece of cloth in the backgroung to cover furniture which would have been distracting. Although I accept that the photos could do with a bit of post processing, that could be done any time later. Given, however, that the project is a study of character and of play of lights and not a test of retouching skills, I should think that there might be a benefit to seeing them as shot.

There are more portraits to this series that I am fond of, but their owners have expressly declined from publicity. Read Less
