Rather than use the standard 8.5 x 5.5 black and white cards I had used in my first year (2006), I decided to create my own card to help boost my fundraising. I used photographs I took at the 2006 event and created a simple folded card with instructions on how to donate. It was a success, and my fundraising total increased about 40% over 2006.
Having received a very positive response via donations as well as comments, I decided to take it even further in 2008. I created a tri-fold brochure with a clear, strong message, as well as my my personal thoughts and goals for the MS Bike ride. It definitely connected with people. Within the same pool of relatives, friends and colleagues, my fundraising increased by approximately 350% over 2007.
