- MOEPsymbolises the strong bond between parents and their new-born child.
This designconnects the two focal points of a baby’s bedroom, the chair and the cradle, linking them with a sturdy and fully-visible open mortise and tenon connection. The familyblood-tie finds symbolic confirmation in the form of a red cord, which runsunder this piece of furniture, connecting the rocking chair and the cradle in adouble knot.
When thebaby has grown into a toddlers’ bed, the cradle is easily converted into a rack to hold the children’s story books. The chair keeps on rocking and maintains its function as a ‘cuddly chair’.

- PHILOSOPHY OF OUR DESIGNS
We are living in an era in which many products are offered to us as socalled black boxes, even as the complexity of these products increases dramatically.
The paradox here is that - partly due to the development of (graphical)user interfaces - the end user is more and more comfortable and at ease withusing products, while at the same time is less aware with the real and oftencomplex mechanisms that lie behind them.
Seen from this perspective, it seems that today’s end-users are increasinglyout-of-
touch with the products they use.
Our work is about demystification. The most striking element of our designsis that the most important mechanisms and constructions of the products aremade visible.
All products of DvanDirk are designed and made according to this whitebox-approach.
