MITOSE, book design

Mitose - a science fiction novel.
This is a two week school project. I made a book covered in cork and neopren. The paper is Munken Pure White 110g, and Cyclus 100% recycled paper 90g. The novel tells the story of how the apocalypse changed people into frog-like creatures that gets fuel from sleeping in algaes and gets water from humid air. The live in big groups, and can't move long (because of the lack of fuel) - but there's a big toad in the middle of their city. (so it's pretty weird).
The cork and recycled material is used to create the feeling of the other world, something that was and then became something new.
The neopren is the fabric we make wetsuits of, i used that to create the frog-like, slimy feeling.

"Create design and organisation of the book “Mitose – a science fiction novel” by Kristian Byskov. Make a proposal for a book that combines readability with innovative book design. Take into account an emphasis on our mastering of both the basic principles of readability in the body text, as well as, a capacity of challenging the book’s visual and tactile potentials in the cover, typography and with graphical illustrations."

Kristian Byskov received the début award of 2013 for the novel Mitose, and 2013 too, he graduated from the School of Visual Art’s department of Walls and Spaces
