MFA Interior Design Thesis Show

As the project is the combination of sculpture and interior design, an installation-like presentation was in consideration.
The idea of constructing replicas of a number of the design features and creating a multi-sensory installation came to my mind.
Hence, the ACA gallery space in the SCAD sculpture studio was reserved for the installation. Planning the installation based on the potentials of the gallery was the departure point. The first step was obtaining the floor plan of the gallery and programming the installation. Figure 61 illustrates the sketching ideas for the installation based on the gallery space. Prior to the selected reception date all installation features were prepared and installed.
The final installation, created a multi-sensory experience for the audience with a combination of light tubes spread through the gallery, the projection of the water dripping on the ceiling, the sounds of water dripping in the gallery and boards visually represent the project.
Audience were impressed by the different facets of the installation. The lighting and water sounds seemed to assimilate them into the installation. There were various reactions to the installation, as some were affected by the materiality and placement of the light tubes. As the light tubes were constructed of transparent tapes, the way the tubes were lit fascinated audiences. Also, as shown in the images, the light tubes were installed in various sizes and directions to replicate what would be their organic placement in the station. Small light tubes give the illusion of moving toward the ground and descending to the lower levels. In general audience responded positively to the installation as it was very immersive in terms of engaging and pleasing different senses such as sight, hearing and touch
