Our family moved to Mexico several years ago (we've since moved back) and as a means to update our family and friends back home, I began writing and publishing photos to a blog. However, the blog quickly morphed into a sandbox where I could play with different photographic and graphic design techniques, more than anything.
Every month I designed and published a new masthead, making a point to change up the overall thematic and design feel. My inspiration came from happenings in my own personal life, news stories or just a simple color. As in, "This month I like the color gray and yellow. I'll make a masthead that's gray and yellow."
A common design element I used in many of these mastheads has been my daughters. The models who I paid in candy and extra TV time. They've been good little sports.
