  • Marisa Berenson,
    Godmother of Ninja Magazine

I guess I was about 13 years old when I discovered Marisa Berenson, her vibrant beauty, her mystery, how hypnoptic she was to me. I saw her and I saw the most beautiful woman on earth, there it was, I found my icon. The 1rst time, was in Stanley Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon". I remember the 2nd time also, that was the "coup de grâce", because it is what she is all about, she is grâce, and it was in Luchino Visconti's "Mort à Venise" (Death in Venice). Her soft, still magnetic presence, has been accompanying me since... When I came to Paris, to study arts for instance. Working on Andy Warhol and there she appears as one of his muses ! Working on Picasso, Dali, Giacometti, Cocteau, and there she is again, and again, smiling... After that, I started my carrer as a fashion editor, and she is there too, but as Elsa Schiaparelli's grand daughter this time ! Then, life went on and her presence started to fade away , she was there, somewhere for sure, but in the blur, discret Marisa...Two weeks ago I received a phone call from Pierre Cialdella, founder and artistic director of Ninja magazine, asking me if Iwould be available for a shooting, something special he said... Curious and enthusiastic I asked what was so special about it and his answer stroke me: "do you know Marisa Berenson, would you like to make a portrait of her ?" That's the way she came back to me, or, more precisely how I came back to her, beautiful, delicate and precious icon. Marisa Berenson believes in angels, and I start to believe that maybe she is my angel...
