This project was completed during my Masters Degree in Illustration and Design at the Univeristy of Sunderland. It is an illustrated adaptation of a short story by Tayama Katai. The story revolves around the journey of a Japanese Soldier suffering from a debilitating vitamine deficiency in the Russo-Japanese war. The concept of the project was to explore the idea of identity in illustration through a combination of Western and Japanese influenced design elements and concepts. Read Less
