We were approached by Michael Lee, an established multidisciplinary contemporary artist (whose work focuses on the relation of desire and space), to create the branding and printed matters for his 1st decade retrospective.
Devised around a shoestring budget, we created a large format fold-out flyer which doubles up as a poster. Referencing the art of japanese gift-wrapping known as origata (折形), its folding method was engineered to be used as a shopping-wrap for visitors who bought books and other small items from the exhibition, utilising strategic creases that partially exposed the content as it unfolded.
An infographic with a futuristic edge using the golden mean shell formed the key graphic for the poster, mapping Michael's studio work, curatorial and editorial projects for the past decade with individual pictograms. The monospaced fonts, rulers and golden mean spiral connote the architectural and precisive nature of Michael Lee's work.
