This is my entry for the 2012 YCN competition. The competition allows the students entering multiple briefs to chose from e.g. a google, graze and sega, my choice was the Marks and Spencer Ultimate Picnic brief. The brief was to design the ultimate picnic box for M&S with an interesting interpretation and theme of what a picnic could be. My final ended up being a Movie Night picnic bringing all the food of the cinema in a easy to carry box.
When I began designing the packaging I knew that I wanted a classic cinema style to it that would fit well the M&S brand and I was also very conscious of the environmentally friendly image that M&S promote so I tried to incorporate all of these factors into my design. All of the packaging is made from reused cardboard and brown paper. It was very important to create a fun cinema atmosphere within the packaging so their a few intentional novelties inside the box e.g. the fake 3D glasses and the mini cinema buckets, all of which have been designed to give the consumer a unique experience thats as close to the cinema experience as possible.
