A short insight

Londophone is a very stylish pub located close to the historic center of Bucharest. They opened a couple of years ago and since then they used all the channels available to attract a certain type of clientele. One of the channels they used was the website where they focused on telling a story about the pub through imagery. That is why most of the page real-estate was used for a collage made of several symbols and only a little bit was reserved for displaying upcoming events. This strategy was not exactly wrong at the time as social channels were much easier to maintain and they served as the perfect promotional platform.
The follow-up

Two years have passed and the needs have evolved - from a strictly presentational role the website had to evolve into a more practical platform. The events had to be king and the nice imagery had to be secondary.

The client wanted a web-site re-design but before I could address that I had one small issue with the logo - it was a cool idea to use a london phone-booth as a symbol but I didn't like the execution. So I got my hands dirty and tried to create a better one.
The new logo is a perspective view of a phone booth. A simple "london phonebooth" search on google images will show a very interesting thing - most of the shots are not frontal but taken from a certain perspective instead. This means that the symbol would be far easier to recognise than the flat version.
The website

For the website I first started working on th icons specific to each section. As the new logo was a perspective view of a booth I decided that it would be consistent if the icons would maintain this idea. It seemed only natural  to use a wooden barrel for the Menu section :).
As stated above, the information was king in this new version and this is why I opted for a grid layout for the main-page. As Londophone is really close to Cismigiu Park I had this idea of distorting the reality a little and placing them in the same scenery - this is one of the beauties of being a graphic designer after all :). The result was a collage that is beautifully revealed to the curious ones that scroll down to the last event.
And because being funny is important - the search field has been blessed with the presence of a familiar shape.
Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Thank you :)
