"Thanks to the five senses, man perceives the external reality in a rational and orderly. A particular depth and soul sensibility, combined with certain psychophysical states (such as illness, the dream, the resulting alcohol intoxication or excitement procured by drugs) can upset the normal rational human perception.
Bringing the vision of a dreamlike and illogical world in which colors, smells, tastes, mixed together, they provide an unexpected pleasure and away from the banality of the real world. Often poets and writers describe the reality of "metaphysics" glimpsed by their inner eye by means of a rhetorical device: synesthesia.
